A Thousand Heartbreaks

My heart breaks
Over him
My heart aches
And, I'm alive again

Take me for a trip
To the dreams you paint
Take me for a journey
I long to stroll down
The gold in your streets

Maybe somewhere between sunrise
And marmalade lavendar midnights
At that corner cafe
You and I may soon meet

I've watched a thousand heart breaks
I've stretched my heart to yours
Just to remember, unbridled passion
Still makes the spirit soar

I've dipped between continents and trees
Just to greet you once more
Just to see a familar face
Through the falling of leaves

Take everything from me
I give it to you freely

But I ask of you
Please, just leave behind one thing

The perfect memory of us,

I need it to keep me company
In the wake, of my broken dreams.

Traces of You

A poem for the broken hearted...

It's been 100 hours
Since I last heard the familar
Ring, of your voice

It's been too many tears
Since I've last remembered
The look of your face

You left me yesterday
You left me
Without a glance
Without a second look
Or chance

I lit a candle
And watched it flicker gold and blue
I walked to the kitchen, alone
And, tripped over the spilling
Memories of you

It's quiet in my space
And emptiness
Now fills my place

All that remains is
The trace of your tender kisses
The reminder of your touch

It's all those little things I still miss
With everything in my heart
Far, far too much
